Since the release of the first book in the House Trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, a Star Trekkian-like arguement over what is and is not canon in the Duniverse has persisted. Are the prequel novels canon? Is the Dune Encyclopedia canon? Are either of them canon? Should any of us actually care?
